Paul Lucht, born on 13 Jan. 1899, detained from 1939 to 1940, died on 19 Jan. 1942 in the Neuengamme concentration camp

Mozartstrasse 6a

Paul Lucht, born on 13 Jan. 1899 in Hamburg, tried to eke out a living as a musician, fairground showman, hawker, and worker, something he did not manage, however, to a sufficient extent, prompting him to attempt to survive by begging and committing petty thefts. This resulted in a total of 28 sentences to fines and prison terms for property offenses, trade infractions, trespassing, and begging between 1922 and 1937. In the spring of 1936, a conviction with an unknown penalty was added for "distributing indecent publications.”

In connection with an "offense against Sec. 175” [of the Reich Criminal Code], he was imprisoned for the first time by the 24th Office of the Criminal Investigation Department (24. Kriminalkommissariat) in the Fuhlsbüttel concentration camp from 7 to 15 Nov. 1939. This was followed by pretrial detention and – after sentencing by the Hamburg District Court (Amtsgericht) on 9 Feb. 1940 to nine months in prison in accordance with Sec. 175 – terms in the Altona and Glasmoor penitentiaries. After having served his sentence on 5 Aug. 1940, Paul Lucht was transferred to the Hamburg Criminal Investigation Department and in Nov. 1940, probably without ever reaching freedom again, committed to the Neuengamme concentration camp, where he had to bear prisoner number 3,363. His death was registered there for 19 Jan. 1942.
