Ruth Körbchen, born 20 Oct. 1887 in Geldern, deported 25 Oct. 1941 to Lodz, perished there 1 May 1942

last residential address: Lange Reihe 111

Ruth Körbchen was a member of the Jewish Community of Hamburg. During the final years before her deportation, she probably earned a living by renting rooms to Jewish people who apparently had only recently moved to Hamburg. On 25 Oct. 1941 she was deported to Lodz Ghetto in the mass transport of 1,034 of Hamburg’s Jewish men and women. She lived there until her death at Rauchgasse 21, apartment 39. Her professional activity in the ghetto was given as "dental technician", which is an apparent reference to her earlier profession in Hamburg, before she was banned from practicing by the National Socialist authorities. A Stolperstein for Ruth Körbchen is located at her former home on Langen Reihe.
