ermordet 25.1.1942
Charlotte Emilie Danziger, born on 9 July 1877 in Hamburg, deported on 25 Oct. 1941 to Lodz, died there on 25 Jan. 1942
Eppendorfer Baum 30 and Küchgarten 8 (Harburg)
Charlotte Emilie Danziger, born in Hamburg in 1877, was the daughter of August and Ida Danziger, née Stern. She was a music teacher and gave lessons in piano and voice. As a pianist and singer, she performed under the stage name of Lotte Dahn. She lived in Harburg since 1932, initially at Stader Strasse 5, and since 1934 at Küchgarten 8. In 1939, she moved to Eppendorfer Baum 30. She was unmarried.
On 9 Oct. 1941, only a few weeks before her deportation, she was arrested and taken as a "protective custody prisoner” ("Schutzhäftling”) to the Stadthaus [the headquarters of the Gestapo in Hamburg]. Released again on 15 Oct., she was forcibly transported ten days later, on 25 Oct., on the first and largest of the total of 17 deportation trains from Hamburg to the Lodz Ghetto. Of the 1,034 persons, only 18 lived to see the end of the war.
As the register of residents of the ghetto notes, Charlotte Danziger lived together with five other persons in one room of apartment no. 23 at Kranichstrasse 13 since 4. Nov., and she died there on 25 Jan. 1942, three months after her deportation. She reached the age of 64.
