DEPORTIERT 1942
THERESIENSTADT
ERMORDET 2.12.1942

John Cohn, born 23 Jan. 1869 in Hamburg, deported 15 July 1942 to Theresienstadt, died there 2 Dec. 1942

John Cohn’s parents were Julius and Bertha (Schloss) Cohn. He was unmarried, and a professional pianist. He had lived in St. Georg, at Koppel 87, since at least 1936. In 1939 he was forced to give up his apartment and move first into the "Jews’ house” at Schlachterstraße 40, and later to the "Jews’ house” at Sedanstraße 23. He and 926 other Jews from Hamburg were deported on 15 July 1942 to the Theresienstadt Ghetto. As an elderly man, he did not survive the poor living conditions in the ghetto. He died in early December of the same year.
