Wolff Victor Cohen was born in Neustadtgödens to Victor and Marianne Cohen. He was a butcher and lived first at Margarethenstraße 46, then at Grindelallee 58, and finally at Roonstraße 27e. He became a member of the Hamburg Jewish Community on 13 April 1933.
His wife Ilse was born in Lehe on 12 December 1908 to Martin (*26 June 1876) and Frieda (Berlin) Neuhaus (*16 Apr. 1881). She worked as an office clerk. Ilse had a twin brother Erich, who died on 1 May 1928. Her younger brother Gerhard Alexander (*4 Mar. 1913) moved to Berlin in 1934. He was later able to flee to Palestine. Ilse became a member of the Jewish Community on 12 June 1934. Until she married, Ilse Neuhaus lived with her parents at Snitgerreihe 38.
The Cohens moved into an apartment at Neanderstraße 23e on 13 May 1937. In June 1938 they moved to Grindelberg 2a, where they rented rooms from the Schulz family. They moved again to rooms with the Ehrenzweig family at Dillstraße 3, and finally to Grindelallee 132. This building belonged to Ilse’s mother’s family. It was at this address that they received their deportation orders. They were deported to Minsk on 8 November 1941. When and how they died there is unknown.
