Prokop Moskalenko was born on July 8, 1907 in Poltava. He was married to Maria, née Piantak (born 1918), and of the Greek Catholic faith. Deported from their native Russia to Hamburg-Langenhorn, both had to perform forced labor for Hanseatische Kettenwerk GmbH (HAK) as "Eastern workers," Prokop Moskalenko since November 25, 1942. They were housed separately in the forced labor camp Tannenkoppel.

On September 18, 1944, Prokop Moskalenko was admitted to the Langenhorn Hospital with a diagnosis of "neurotic appearance." One day later he died there on September 19, 1944 at 4:00 p.m., i.e. in one of the six so-called foreigners' barracks.

ln the death notice of the hospital is given as the cause of death "alcohol poisoning" and as the signing physician Dr. Sosnin.

Prokop Moskalenko was 37 years old.

Ten days later, Prokop Moskalenko was buried by the Großhamburgische Bestattungsgesellschaft (GBG) at 8:00 a.m. on September 29, 1943, at Ohlsdorf Cemetery. He was placed in a collective grave with nine unknown dead, grave location Bp 73, row 8, no. 9. A gravestone with his name carved on it and his date of birth and death still commemorates him there.
