Langenhorner Chaussee next to 625, memorial place

Sofia Nietrzebka was born in Zyreidow on January 31, 1913. She was of Roman Catholic faith. She was first deported from her native Poland to Württemberg. She had to perform forced labor in Tailfingen, district of Balingen, Hechinger Straße 43, in the "Balthasar Blickle's Widow" tricot factory from September 18, 1941 to October 1942.

After that, Sofia Nietrzebka had come to France for a short time, perhaps escaping. From La Petite-Raon she was transferred to forced labor in Hamburg-Langenhorn. In the house registration file, she is registered in the camp at Weg 4 since October 26, 1942 at the Deutsche Meßapparate GmbH (Messap), later she had to do forced labor for the Hanseatische Kettenwerk GmbH (HAK). She was housed in the Tarpenbeck camp.

On July 5, 1944, she was admitted to the Langenhorn Hospital with the diagnosis "Rachen-Di" (diphtheria). Five days later, on July 10, 1944, at 3:00 a.m., Sofia Nietrzebka died there in one of the six so-called foreigners' barracks. In the hospital's death notice, the cause of death is given as "toxic pharyngeal di" (diphtheria) and "myocarditis" (inflammation of the heart muscle), with Dr. Parow as the signing physician.

Sofia Nietrzebka was 31 years old.

Four days later, her funeral was held by the Großhamburgische Bestattungsgesellschaft (GBG) at 9:30 a.m. on July 14, 1944, "with decorations, plants, and harmonium or organ music" at Ohlsdorf Cemetery. She was placed in a collective grave with nine unknown dead, grave location Bp 73, row 22, no. 14.

A gravestone with her name carved on it and the date of her birth and death still commemorates her there.
