Margarethe Kutnewsky (née Friedländer) * 1865

Isestraße 63 (Eimsbüttel, Harvestehude)

1942 Theresienstadt
ermordet 10.11.1942

Margarethe Kutnewsky, née Friedländer, born 9 Sep. 1865 in Berlin, deported 19 July 1942 to Theresienstadt, died there 10 Nov. 1942

Margarethe Kutnewsky was the widow of Professor Max Kutnewsky. Her husband was the headmaster of the private "Trust School of 1815” at Zeughausmarkt 32. The school was accredited by the state. Twelve men and nine women taught at the college-preparatory school.

The couple had two daughters, both of whom were able to flee the country.

Professor Kutnewsky died in 1928. At that time the family lived on Eppendorfer Landstraße. Margarethe Kutnewsky later moved to Isestraße, and then in 1935 to Parkallee. In September 1941 she moved into the buildings of the Jewish Community at Heimhuder Straße 70, where she lived for nearly a year until she was deported to Theresienstadt. She was not able to withstand the conditions there, and died five months later, one day after her 77th birthday.
