The physician Georg Goldstein was already 74 years old when he was deported. He had lost his license to practice medicine due to his Jewish descent; on the deportation list, the profession entered was "treater of the sick” ("Krankenbehandler"). Georg Goldstein was unmarried.

He was born in the Prussian town of Oppeln in Upper Silesia in 1867. His parents were Adolf and Jenny Goldstein, née Burmann. Georg Goldstein studied medicine and received his doctorate for a dissertation entitled "On paralyses of the radial nerve” ("Über Lähmungen des Nervus radialis”) in Berlin in 1894. That same year, he received his license to practice medicine. In 1907, he set himself up as a general practitioner in Hamburg and joined the German-Israelitic Community. For a long time, he operated a practice in Eppendorf, initially at Eppendorfer Baum 13, later at Eppendorfer Landstrasse 92–94, and at Eppendorfer Landstrasse 18. After 1933, he relocated his practice several times, to, among other places, Ottersbekallee 21 and Heussweg 39 in Eimsbüttel. In the 1933 directory, the address indicated for him was Niendorfer Strasse 91. The address entered on the deportation list was Eppendorfer Weg 176 on the third floor. The laying of the Stolperstein in front of house no. 167 is probably due to an error.

After his deportation, his furnishings were auctioned off publicly, with the proceeds going to the treasurer’s office with the Chief Finance Administrator (Oberfinanzkasse).
