The Stolperstein for Anna Franziska Cohn is next to that of her brother and sister-in-law Siegmund and Alice Cohn (see Biography, Alice Jenny Cohn). The exact dates that she lived with her brother are not known. There are several addresses listed in her church tax records held by the Jewish Community, and there is no date next to the entry "Eppendorfer Baum 19.”
Anna’s parents were Marianne (Hirschel) and Marcus Cohn. After her father died in 1898, she remained with her mother and brother in the family apartment at Rutschbahn 15. We know nothing about her school years. Her profession is listed as office clerk or bookkeeper, so she must have trained in this area. Marianne Cohn died in 1923, but Anna continued to live in the apartment until at least 1931. After that she lived with her brother and sister-in-law.
While living with her brother’s family, she developed a close relationship to her niece Charlotte. More than 70 years later, Charlotte remembered: "She was a typical maiden aunt, I was very fond of her.”
Anna must have had a very small income, since she paid no taxes to the Jewish Community in 1934. In 1935 she was unemployed. Thereafter her income must have remained very low, as she was still unable to pay any taxes.
In 1936 her address is listed as Loogesteig 12, c/o Löwenberg. In 1939 she moved to Woldsenweg 5, where she had a room in the apartment of Ella Davidsohn and her son Walter. The house register states "moved from Isestraße 89,” and gives her profession as "household help.” Three other boarders lived in the five-room apartment, all of whom were later deported and murdered. One was on the same transport to Minsk as Anna. Anna’s last address, in 1941, was Bogenstraße 27, c/o Warburg. She was deported to Minsk ten days after her brother and sister-in-law.
