Albert Bannau, born on 10 Mar. 1902, died on 2 Apr. 1945 in Arnstadt

Ritterstraße 74

The tailor Albert Bannau was born in Hamburg on 10 Mar. 1902. No files are available about him in the Hamburg State Archive. According to stories told by relatives still alive, he apparently lived at Ritterstrasse 74 E with his boyfriend, becoming a victim of the Nazi regime due to his homosexuality. The residential building was destroyed by an air raid.

Since 5 Sept. 1944, he was imprisoned in the Ichtershausen penitentiary. On 2 Apr. 1945, he died at the Arnstadt Municipal Hospital, probably as a result of imprisonment.
