Nicolai Tuschkin, born 14.4.1944 near Witebsk, died 23.11.1944 Hamburg
Pinneberger Chaussee 155 (Eidelstedt)
Nicolai Tuschkin was born on April 14, 1944 near Witebsk. His parents were Anna Tuschkin, née Maschtschenko, and a soldier in the Wehrmacht with the surname Tuschkin (his first name is not known). He had presumably been recruited into the German Wehrmacht. In the death records, his nationality is stated as "Russian".
Anna Tuschkin gave birth to her son Nicolai "on the run in the Witebsk district" in Belarus. It is not known how she arrived with him in Hamburg-Eidelstedt at Pinneberger Chaussee 155. There she had to work for the Walter Bade nursery. She and her baby were also accommodated in this business. The nutritional and living conditions were completely inadequate for Nicolai.
On November 22, 1944, he was admitted to the Eppendorf University Hospital with a diagnosis of "laryngeal diphtheria". The next day, November 23, 1944, he died there at 3:45 pm. The hospital's death notice states "descending pharyngeal diphtheria" as the cause of death and Debes as the doctor who signed it.
Nicolai was 7 months and 9 days old.
Seven days after his death, the burial took place on November 30, 1944 at Ohlsdorf cemetery, grave location: Q 39, row 12, no. 10. His grave is no longer preserved. At the end of 1959, it was levelled together with at least 146 graves of the children of forced labourers on site Q 39.
