Tamara Balenow, was born in Hamburg on January 16, 1944. Her mother Olena Balenow, born in Bykova on December 27, 1924, was of Greek Catholic faith and, according to the alien registration file, supposedly single.

Deported from her native Ukraine, she had to perform forced labor for Deutsche Meßapparate GmbH (Messap) in Hamburg-Langenhorn. She was housed ina camp for forced laborers from the occupied Eastern territories, the "Ostarbeiterlager" Tannenkoppel. She was pregnant during this time.

The alien registration file also lists an Ivan Balenko, born on March 29, 1924 Adownowka/Ukraine with his wife Lena Balenko, born on December 17, 1924, and their common child Tamara, born on January 15, 1944 Hamburg. On December 9, 1944, Ivan Balenko was transferred from the "Maierhof Community Camp" of Junghans A.G., Schramberg/Rottweil, to the "Eastern Workers Camp", Weg 4, Hamburg-Langenhorn, accordingly together with his heavily pregnant wife Lena Balenko. It can be assumed that it is the same family, since the names and dates of birth show great similarity and the alien registration file contains incorrect entries for names and dates of life.

On the day of the birth of her child, 19-year-old Olena Balenow was admitted to Alsterdorf Hospital. Nine days after the delivery, on January 25, 1944, she returned with her daughter Tamara to the "Tannenkoppel Eastern Workers' Camp." Tamara had to spend the short time of her life there. The nutritional and living conditions were completely inadequate for her.

Tamara died there at 4:30 a.m. on January 29, 1945. In the death notice of the police chief, signed "i. A. Hillmann L. A.", "Internal cause" is given as the cause of death without "official investigation" and without specifying a doctor.

Tamara was 1 year and 13 days old.

Fourteen days after her death, her burial took place on February 13, 1945 in the Ohlsdorf cemetery, grave location: Bo 63, row 32, no. 21. Her grave is no longer preserved. At the end of 1959 it was dissolved together with at least 30 graves of children of forced laborers on area Bo 63.
