Anita Dombrowski was a member of the Hamburg Jewish Community until she resigned in November 1940 and was a stenotypist by profession; her last job was as a merchant.
She had been divorced since at least the early 1930s and first lived on Bohnenstraße in the Altstadt. Thereafter she lived at four changing addresses in St. Georg until she settled on Lindenstrasse in 1937. She apparently had children by her non-Jewish husband, but they did not live with her after the divorce.
In February 1941, she was arrested for an unknown reason, probably "racial defilement," and held until 1942, first in the Hütten police prison and later in the Fuhlsbüttel concentration camp. In February 1942, she was first sent to Ravensbrück concentration camp, where she was held on the grounds of "racial defilement."
A few months later, she was deported to Auschwitz, where she was murdered on October 9, 1942.
